Record wheat yields predicted for Ohio and the U.S.

Officials are predicting a new statewide record yield for winter wheat in Ohio. The USDA reports that Ohio wheat production is expected to be 41.3 million bushels. The yield forecast of 75.0 bushels places it one bushel above the previous state record, set in 2014. Wheat continues to be in great condition throughout the state with maturity ahead of schedule.

Across the US, winter wheat production is predicted to come in at 1.51 billion bushels, up six percent from last month and ten percent from 2015. Yields across the US are predicted to be at 50.5 bushels per acre. The USDA reports that if realized, this will be the highest yield on record for the United States.
