Dry weather hasn’t helped Ohio crops

Continued dry weather in Ohio has helped fieldwork but is starting to become an issue for crops.

As of Sunday, 97 percent of the state’s soybeans are planted, compared to 96 percent for the five-year average. Ninety-percent have emerged, above the average of 86 percent.

For corn, 96 percent has emerged, in line with the average.

Nineteen-percent of winter wheat is at the mature stage, with harvesting expected in the next month. No winter wheat has been harvested yet. Eighty-four-percent of alfalfa’s first cutting has been baled along with 72 percent of other first cut hay products.
