A symposium entitled “Animal Health in the Heartland: Biotech’s Role in Emergency Preparedness” will be held July 20th in Omaha. The event is a collaboration between the Iowa Biotechnology Association (IowaBio) and BioNebraska.

According to IowaBio executive director Joe Hrdlicka, the focus will be on biotechnology’s role in emergency preparedness/response to issues like avian flu and PEDV. He says some of the nation’s foremost research and regulatory experts will lead the discussion on past and future emergency outbreaks and what role the biotech industry can and will play in mitigating those animal health emergencies.
