Slow week for export inspections

The USDA reports export inspections for the week ending May 26th were generally less than what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the current marketing year. The 2016/17 marketing year for wheat begins June 1st.

Wheat came out at 494,842 tons, up 192,500 from the week ending May 19th and 129,811 higher than the week ending May 28th, 2015. Nearing the end of the 2015/16 marketing year, wheat inspections are 20,072,250 tons, compared to 22,622,295 in 2014/15.

Corn was reported at 786,407 tons, down 361,449 from the previous week and 197,868 lower than this time last year. For the marketing year to date, corn inspections are 28,414,240 tons, compared to 31,911,906 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 182,261 tons, 93,912 more than the prior week and 97,186 above last year. So far this marketing year, soybean inspections are 43,397,962 tons, compared to 46,967,064 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 65,890 tons. That’s an increase of 13,859 tons on the week, but a decrease of 93,036 on the year. 2015/16 sorghum inspections are 7,092,982 tons, compared to 7,362,255 in 2014/15.
