Weather

A warm pattern across much of the Nation

Showers along the northern Atlantic Coast will end later Tuesday. Meanwhile, stormy weather will gradually shift from the Plains into the Midwest and mid-South. Five-day rainfall totals should reach 2 to 5 inches from central and eastern Texas into the upper Mississippi Valley. Meanwhile, spotty showers will linger in the Northwest, where 5-day totals could top an inch in a few locations. Below-normal temperatures will persist through week’s end in the West, while warmer weather will overspread the eastern U.S. During the weekend, tropical showers may begin to overspread the southern and middle Atlantic States.

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- to above-normal temperatures across most of the country. Cooler-than-normal conditions will be mostly limited to portions of the Intermountain West and the Southwest, while drier-than-normal weather will be confined to parts of the Pacific Coast States and along the northern Atlantic Coast.
