Companies may reject new GM soybeans

Programs ICONMonsanto’s new Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans may be rejected by international grain traders if the European Union doesn’t approve the variety.

The Wall Street Journal reports groups representing Cargill, ADM, Bunge and others are upset Monsanto didn’t get approval from the EU before marketing seed to farmers. Grain traders may accept the beans if they are approved for trade before harvest.

Monsanto says they have regularly and transparently communicated with farmers and grain companies about the regulatory status.
