South Dakota Corn Growers hires sustainability director

The South Dakota Corn Growers Association now has a staff director of sustainability.  The group hired biologist and conservationist Jim Ristau to the newly created position.  He’s to work with farmers on conservation programs, perform public outreach, conduct research trials and present field demonstrations.

Although the organization is based in Sioux Falls, Ristau will be stationed at Natural Resources Conservation Services offices in Chamberlain and Huron through a partnership that’s the first of its kind.

Ristau has been a Pheasants Forever farm bill biologist since 2004, working with the USDA and wildlife organizations. Before that, he was a habitat specialist with South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks and worked in the private sector.
