Corn in NW Ohio_052315 (5)_webRain showers last week kept farmers in the northern parts of the state from the field, but farmers further south had more ideal planting conditions.  According to the latest weekly crop report 27 percent of the state’s corn has been planted with 1 percent emerged.  Five percent of soybeans have been planted.

Seventy-six percent of the oats have been planted and 39 percent emerged.  Winter wheat conditions remain high as 82 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent; 76 percent of the crop is jointing and 5 percent headed.

Hay and pasture growth remains slow, but 87 percent is rated good to excellent.
