Warm, sunny weather allowed for the planting of most crops in Wisconsin to close in or surpass seasonal averages last week.

USDA’s latest Crop Progress numbers say corn planting is four days ahead of normal at 10 percent complete.

Oat planting is five days ahead of the five year average at 37 percent done.

And the progress of potato planting is closer to normal at 30 percent finished.

Also, the condition of winter wheat in Wisconsin improved three percentage points in the last week to 82 percent good to excellent.
