The head of economic development for the city of Fremont (Nebraska) has confirmed that a “major company” is looking to build a new chicken processing plant in the east-central Nebraska community.

Cecilia Harry, executive director of the Greater Fremont Development Council, tells WOWT-TV in Omaha that because plans for the plant have not been finalized, she is not able to reveal the name of the company involved. However, Harry says the proposed plant will cost 300 million dollars to build and will utilize 75 to 100 local chicken growers within 30 to 60 miles of Fremont.

Harry says the name of the company will likely be revealed this summer, once plans are solidified.
