Another planting intentions survey suggests more corn and less soybean acres for the U.S. in 2016.

Farm Futures magazine released the results of a nationwide survey of more than 1,200 growers Thursday–and while tight margins could reduce overall acreage–respondents indicated a 2.3 percent jump in corn acres from 2015 at 90 million.

Following back-to-back record soybean acreage and yields–the survey says farmers will plant 82 million acres in 2016–slightly less than a year ago.

Of the other major cash crops, only white winter wheat and cotton are expected to see increased acreage in 2016 compared to last year.
