Precision Technology important for John Deere

Laura Donaldson Classic 16Precision technology is an important offering for John Deere’s farmer customers.  Laura Donaldson, Product Manager at John Deere, talked with Brownfield’s Cyndi Young during Commodity Classic.

“Everything we are doing in this space is committed and linked back to the customer, helping them to increase productivity and efficiency.  That’s why we’ve invested so much in this space.” explains Donaldson.

Many farmers have been collecting data for several years.  Much of the focus now is on how to move that information from APEX, John Deere’s desktop-based farm management software system, to the John Deere Operations Center.  This on-line set of tools allows farmers to see what is happening with equipment, production data and farm operations from a single website.  It allows farmers to more easily collect and access date, analyze it more effectively and collaborate with current partners to better direct what is happening on their operation.

John Deere offers an entire suite of technology products so farmers can pick and choose what is the best fit for each individual operation.

In February, John Deere introduced a prescription-creator tool within the operations center.  Donaldson encourages farmers to utilize that new tool to create prescriptions from previous yield information or USDA-supplied soil maps.
