Bruce King, Ohio’s Swine Manager of the Year

Ohio’s Swine Manager of the Year says fate brought him to the swine industry.

Bruce King of Lucas, Ohio worked in manufacturing for 15 years before he responded to a newspaper ad that led him to Oberholtzer Hog Corporation. King tells Brownfield he loves working with pigs and helping others understand pork production.

“I love to educate people on how pigs are taken care of, everyone has this very false sense that what we do is cruel or inhumane and it’s not,” King said. “I always invite people to come and watch what we do, come visit the farm and you’ll see a whole different side of agriculture than what you thought it was.”

King manages a 2,500 head sow unit, with eight full-time employees.
