Teaching the steps to raise quality pork

DSCN1624The Pork Quality Assurance program certification teaches producers several steps to raising better hogs.  One of its instructors, Veterinarian Dr. Tony Martin, a staff veterinarian for the MFA cooperative in Missouri, teaches the Pork Quality Assurance certification program to producers.  He tells Brownfield the certification training is well worth the time.  Terms, like biosecurity that may not have been as widely used in 1989 when the PQA program began, but it’s a key part of the program now.  With the new Veterinary Feed Directive taking effect, Dr. Marin recommends involving an animal health professional to make sure it’s being followed appropriately.
