Weather

Mild weather seen on much of the Plains

Across the Corn Belt, cold, breezy weather prevails. Snow showers continue across the eastern Corn Belt and downwind of the Great Lakes. Snow is also developing across the westernmost Corn Belt in conjunction with an approaching warm front.

On the Plains, mild air is expanding eastward. For the second day in a row, Wednesday’s high temperatures could top 60° as far north as Montana. On the central Plains, warmth is melting a previously impressive snow cover. In contrast, cold weather and snow showers linger across the eastern Dakotas.

In the South, Freeze Warnings were in effect early Wednesday as far south as northern Florida—but north of Florida’s citrus belt. Meanwhile, snow showers linger across Kentucky, Tennessee, and the southern Appalachians

In the West, warm, dry weather prevails, except for lingering fog and cool conditions in snow-covered valleys across the Intermountain region. Wednesday’s high temperatures will approach 90° in the Desert Southwest.
