Meat Matters campaign conveys virtues

The Animal Ag Alliance has an answer to the so-called Meatless Monday campaign with its new Meat Matters campaign.

“You might be familiar with the Meatless Monday’s movement. It’s backed by a lot of activist groups and really they want to reduce the amount of meat and poultry on our plates and they want to raise questions in peoples’ minds about whether we should be eating them. The idea is that they’ll start with Mondays but they want us to go meatless every day of the week,” says Hannah Thompson.

She says their Meat Matters campaign is a way for people to wave the flag for eating meat and poultry, “It’s very easy to find celebrities and public figures talking in the media about being vegetarian or being vegan. And, those are very valid food choices but so is eating meat. So, how can we get people more enthusiastic about it and more willing to speak up and talk about it?”

She says meat and poultry are nutritious and fit into a balanced diet, “Meat and poultry are really great sources of a lot of different vitamins and nutrients that help you stay active throughout the day, keep your energies throughout their day.” The Meat Matters campaign also debunks myths about meat and poultry production.
