Extensive snow cover across the northern, western Corn Belt
Across the Corn Belt, snow-removal efforts continue in storm-affected areas from Nebraska to Wisconsin and Michigan. Current snow depths include 13 inches in Traverse City, Michigan, and 7 inches in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. A few light snow showers are occurring across the northern tier of the Midwest.
On the Plains, mild, breezy weather is returning to Montana, where winter wheat’s protective snow cover remains patchy. Farther south, however, a thick blanket of fresh snow covers winter wheat across much of Colorado, Nebraska, and northwestern Kansas.
In the South, rain lingers in the southern Atlantic region from the Carolinas to northern Florida. Warm weather continues in southern Florida, but cool, dry weather covers the remainder of the South.
In the West, scattered rain and snow showers stretch from the Pacific Northwest to the northern Rockies and northern Intermountain region. Meanwhile, cool, dry weather prevails from California into the Southwest.
