ASPCA’s rich history in horses

The Jacque Schultz, senior director of The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) Equine Fund says horses have been a part of the organizations mission from the very beginning.

  • And yet, even though the carriage horses in NYC, for example, are under the strictest regulations the A$PCA can come up with (and pass with flying colors), the A$PCA continues to partner with PeTA (animal rights) and NYCLASS (real estate developer-backed org that wants the land the stables are on) in persecuting the NYC carriage horse industry and calling for its elimination. It’s about politics and $$$$$$, not horse welfare.

  • The ASPCA started as an Animal WELFARE Group to help working horses. In it’s 150 years of existence, it has expanded to other animals but IMO, has drifted off course. It is now an Animal Rights group, run by to many people who have no clue as to how animals live and what their needs are. They use shock-type ads, generating much money that doesn’t get to the animals that people THINK are getting the money. ASPCA still does good work, but IMO, they are no loner focused on WELFARE but on issues that actually compromise animal welfare, instead of promoting it. I commend the ASPCA for the good they do but there is always room for improvement.

    • Unfortunately, the A$PCA has gone down the garden path in the same direction that the H$U$ has gone since 2004 when Pacelle took over. The sappy sickening Begathon ads that the A$PCA and the H$U$ run are very similar, and I skip them every time they come on. Either they are getting some PSA credits on the air time or the ROI on these otherwise expensive ads must make it worth while. The A$PCA more and more speaks the “animal rights” propaganda message, and that’s unfortunate. They seem to be trying to match the H$U$ in deceiving the public about what their funds are going for, more towards lobbying and influencing negative animal enterprise ads than actually helping animals.
