Ohio State University President Michael Drake (2)_webThe President of The Ohio State University says addressing food insecurity is a priority for the university.

Michael Drake says the goal is to be a good partner in addressing the issue.

“We are planning on investing $100 million over the next decade, including about $15 million in new faculty hires, to try to do research in this area and try to be good partners in helping the broader community deal with this problem,” President Drake said.

He tells Brownfield, Ohio State University will hold a volunteer summit in April to bring additional attention to the food insecurity issue…

“The theme of this year’s volunteer summit will be food security,” said Drake. “So we hope to pull a lot of people together and then see what the difference the harness power of Buckeye Nation can make in food security in Central Ohio and beyond.”

Drake says to be successful, programs that are “sustainable, impactful, efficient and effective” will be needed to help those who face hunger.
