Technology helping dairy farmers remain profitable
New technology is allowing a Minnesota dairy farmer to stay profitable as milk prices continue to fall.
Kristine Spadgenski and her husband Mark milk 250 cows near Menahga in north central Minnesota.
She says prices this year and beyond don’t look good, but improving technology has helped mitigate financial losses.
“Where can we look at areas where we can crunch some numbers and be more efficient, so it’s a better bottom-line for us.”
Spadgenski tells Brownfield the Dairy Expo presents a great opportunity to learn more about the latest technology available.
“It’s always about keeping ahead of the game and being as efficient as possible, taking care of those cows as best we can (while) using the tools that are available.”
The Midwest Dairy Conference and Expo runs through Thursday.
