Missouri Corn says ethanol exports a must in light of RFS

The CEO of the Missouri Corn Growers Association says the EPA should have followed the statutory requirement of requiring 15 Billion gallons of ethanol be produced in the coming year – instead, the final RFS number for corn ethanol is 14.5 Billion, “It’s really, almost hypocritical for the EPA to come out and to lower the renewable fuels standard numbers at the same time the President is in Paris talking about global reductions of toxic emissions.”

Gary Marshall says the US will likely produce an extra one billion gallons of ethanol in the coming year. “In the past, we’ve seen that Big Oil refuses to blend above those RFS required numbers. We going to have to find some place to get rid of that ethanol and that probably means exports. That’s going to be a top priority for us next year – for corn, ethanol, and distillers’ grains.”

Marshall says increasing ethanol exports will be Missouri Corn Growers’ top goal.
