Interstate Livestock online tool now available
A new online tool assists producers who move livestock between states.
Chelsea Good is a board member of both the National Institute for Animal Agriculture and U.S. Animal Health Association, the two sponsors of www.interstatelivestock.com.
She says the website takes producers through a series of questions.
“Things like what state are you coming from or going to? Questions about the type of cattle, so steers, heifers, cows or bulls. And also questions about the age of the animals.”
Good tells Brownfield once the questions are answered, a list of requirements will show up.
“Those are the requirements that apply to that movement that you’re making. It might say things like: are health certificates required? Or if you’re moving to certain states, maybe a movement permit is needed. Maybe if you’re moving bulls, they have to be trichomoniasis tested if they are a certain age.”
She says the website went live within the past couple of weeks.
