Egg production in Minnesota is well off the pace of a year ago.

According to USDA’s latest Chicken and Egg report, the state produced 221 million eggs in October, down 17 percent from 2014.

The average number of all layers on hand during the month was also off 17 percent from at 9.3 million.

Eggs per 100 layers, at nearly 2,400, were about even with a year ago.
