Illinois winter wheat emergence ahead of average

A warm, wet week in Illinois helped soil moisture levels.

As of Sunday, 75% of topsoil and 68% of subsoil have adequate moisture levels.

95% of the winter wheat crop has emerged, compared to the five year average of 91%, and 64% of the crop is in good to excellent shape.

45% of pasture and rangelands are called good to excellent, with another 36% rated fair.
