Retrofit of Nebraska biodiesel plant nearly complete

Retrofitting of the Duonix biodiesel plant in Beatrice, Nebraska is nearing completion and, according to a story in the Beatrice Daily Sun, the plant will begin operations “by the end of this year or early in 2016”.

Duonix Beatrice is a joint venture between Flint Hills Resources, a subsidiary of Koch Industries, and Benefuel. They purchased the dormant plant in 2011 and have spent the past two years retrofitting it to be more efficient and feedstock-flexible.

Once operational, the facility will produce 50 million gallons of biodiesel annually and provide nearly 50 full-time jobs.
