DFA to buy the other half of DairiConcepts

DairiConcepts

Dairy Farmers of America is going to acquire 100 percent of the dairy ingredients company it co-owns with Fonterra of New Zealand. DairiConcepts was formed by the two cooperatives in 2000 by combining DFA’s cheese and cheese powders business with Fonterra’s cheese and cheese flavors business in the U.S.

Fonterra says the partnership no longer fits into its long-term plans.

DFA will purchase Fonterra’s half for $196 million on December 31st.  Fonterra will remain a key customer of DairiConcepts.

DairiConcepts has eight facilities across the United States including Bruce, Chili and Greenwood, Wisconsin; Dalbo, Minnesota; Allerton, Iowa, El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Pollock, South Dakota and Hummelstown, Pennsylvania.

With headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, DairiConcepts has sales throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia.
