USDA allocates FY 2016 MAP and FMD funds
USDA has awarded Fiscal Year 2016 funding to more than 60 agricultural organizations for the Market Access Program (MAP) and Foreign Market Development (FMD) program.
Under MAP, the Foreign Ag Service will provide $172.8 million to 62 nonprofits and cooperatives to promote their products around the globe. MAP participants contribute an average 137 percent match for generic promotion and dollar-for-dollar for branded products.
FMD will provide $27.5 million to 23 agricultural trade organizations for the generic promotion of U.S. commodities. The organizations contribute an average 184 percent cost share.
USDA says and independent study released in 2010 found the MAP and FMD programs provide $35 in economic benefits from each dollar spent.
The past seven years have been the strongest period ever for American agricultural exports.
