Julie Harker receives Service Excellence Public Relations award

BIA-MO Award

Brownfield anchor/reporter Julie Harker has received an award from the Brain Injury Association of Missouri (BIA-MO) for her reports on people involved in agriculture who are recovering from traumatic brain injury.

On October 17th, Julie received the Service Excellence Public Relations award at the 12th Annual Statewide Professional Conference of BIA-MO in St. Charles, Missouri, in recognition of her “exceptional efforts to increase awareness of brain injury.” Julie interviewed a young horse trainer who suffered a traumatic brain injury but recovered and got back to horse training through the Missouri AgrAbility program. She turned that interview into a Hoofbeat program for Brownfield Ag Radio Network and did a follow up program on the importance of wearing a helmet while riding horses. Julie has also done a series of stories about farmer veterans which explain how they can get assistance and overcome their injuries, including brain injuries.
