The pace of Ohio’s harvest is ahead of average

Ohio farmers took advantage of just over 5 days suitable for field work last week.

In the weekly crop progress report, soybean harvest advanced to 45 percent complete, a jump of 20 points from a week earlier. Soybean harvest is 22 points ahead of the 5-year average. Moisture content of soybeans averaged 12 percent.

The Ohio field office of the National Ag Statistics Service (NASS) has corn harvest at 18 percent complete, a gain of eight points from a week ago. Corn harvest is one point ahead of the 5-year average. Corn moisture averaged 20 percent.

36 percent of the Ohio wheat crop has been planted, well ahead of the 22 percent average. Five percent of the wheat crop has emerged.
