Illinois corn, soybean and sorghum harvest reach half-way point

Dry weather across Illinois allowed corn and soybean harvest progress. The corn is 95 percent mature and half of it is harvested, an increase of 20 percentage points over last week. Corn is 56 percent good to excellent. Both soybeans and sorghum are also each about half harvested and each is almost 20 percentage points ahead of normal. Soybeans are 60 percent good to excellent. Winter wheat is 22 percent planted, ahead of both last year and the 5-year average.  Illinois pastures are 49 percent good to excellent.
