Cleaning up the ‘mess’ in the fed cattle market

Large supplies of extremely heavy cattle continue to weigh on fed cattle prices. Oklahoma State University Extension livestock marketing specialist Derrell Peel says the only real fix at this point is for cattle feeders to take their lumps and, in his words, “cough up the heavy cattle”.  Peel says it will likely take another two to three weeks to complete the “purging” process and get feedlots current on marketings.
