Renewable fuel grant could cut costs at the pump in Minnesota
Minnesota’s ag commissioner says a USDA renewable fuels grant will give consumers the opportunity to buy fuel at lower prices.
Dave Frederickson tells Brownfield more than eight million dollars will be given to the state to assist in expanding E-15 infrastructure.
“We will assist (fuel distributors) in a variety of ways, like tanks, fittings…all the infrastructure required to put blender pumps in.”
He says more options at the pump should result in cheaper fuel.
“You can ask anyone around town who the governor is or the commissioner of ag; they wouldn’t know. But if we ask them the price of gasoline, they will know the answer. Price is the driver, and I think this will be an extreme benefit to those producers.”
Frederickson says a state-appointed committee will decide how to spend the grant money and expects the new projects to begin soon.
