More opportunities for ethanol in Michigan

Ethanol Producer

The Corn Marketing Program of Michigan says a grant to increase blender pumps will save consumers money.

Communications Specialist Angel Jenio tells Brownfield the Biofuel Infrastructure Partnership awarded grants to 21 states including Michigan.  “That funding will go to add infrastructure that’s needed to supply more renewable fuel to drivers all across the state.” She says, “It goes to cover the pumps as well as the dispensers at gasoline retailers.”

Jenio says 89 flexible fuel pumps will be installed across the state, offering consumers a more cost effective fuel option.

“We actually use more ethanol than we produced here so this grant is going to go a long way towards supporting our ethanol industry which is not just a local industry, but it uses corn that is grown from our local farmers.”

She tells Brownfield the blender pumps will offer more renewable fuel options for drivers including gasoline blended with 15 percent ethanol (E15), all the way to 85 percent ethanol (E85).
