An extension educator says the National 4-H Dairy Conference is a stepping stone for youth into the dairy industry.

Melissa Elischer with Michigan State University Extension says the National 4-H Dairy Conference creates amazing youth development opportunities as it is coordinated by youth for youth. She tells Brownfield adults are present to help supervise, but much of the event is run by 4-H members.  “It really gives them a national and sometimes global perspective on growth, trends, changes, the newest technology available for them.”

She says the conference also introduces youth to peers that could be future colleagues and adults that could expose them to future career possibilities.

This year will be the 61st annual conference in Madison, Wisconsin.
