Syngenta updates Duracade Stewardship program

MartinDuane

For the past two years Syngenta has partnered with Gavilon Grain to provide growers with a place to market grain with the Agrisure Duracade trait.  Because the trait doesn’t have global approval, the stewardship program ensures the grain is used domestically and doesn’t make it into the global marketplace.

Duane Martin, Agrisure commercial traits lead with Syngenta says growers will see some changes to its Right to Grow program heading into 2016.  “Most of our growers in the corn rootworm areas are either feeding their own livestock or hauling grain to a local feedlot that consumes all of the grain onsite,” he says.  “Those are the growers we’ll continue to market Agrisure Duracade to because they want and need the technology – but they can steward the grain simply by doing what they are already doing today.”

Martin tells Brownfield if growers aren’t feeding the grain to livestock on their farm they can sell it to a list of Syngenta approved feedlots and ethanol plants.
