Illinois Farm Credit gives $100k milestone gift

Farm Credit Illinois CEO Aaron Johnson at the Farm Progress Show, Decatur, Ill., Sept. 1, 2015.The two Illinois Farm Credit associations gave $100,000 to Illinois agriculture groups this week at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois. Farm Credit Illinois CEO Aaron Johnson tells Brownfield that they, and 1st Farm Credit Services, distributed the contribution among ten Illinois agriculture groups to celebrate the Farm Credit System’s 100th year.

“It’s just a great way for us to kick off and say ‘thank you’ to agriculture and to all of our owner/members over the last 100 years for everything they’ve done,” said Johnson, during an interview with Brownfield Ag News at the Farm Progress Show.

People attending the show helped “Designate the Dollars” by voting in an electronic survey for the groups, including:

•        Illinois 4-H
•        Illinois Ag-In-The Classroom
•        Illinois AgrAbility
•        Illinois Agricultural Leadership Program
•        Illinois Agri-Women
•        Illinois FFA
•        Illinois State University Department of Agriculture
•        Southern Illinois University College of Agricultural Sciences
•        University of Illinois College of ACES
•        Western Illinois University School of Agriculture

Illinois Farm Credit provides agriculture financing, crop insurance and related services.
