Minnesota FFA President values opportunity to talk ag at State Fair

The Minnesota FFA president is eager to talk to attendees of the State Fair.

PJ Aarsvold says the opportunity to share the story of FFA and agriculture is valuable.

“Earlier today I was talking to someone who comes from a farming background, I was also talking to a family from Germany that knows nothing about farming.  It’s been fascinating to have all these different conversations and where they lead, and I definitely can learn from other people as well as share what I know.  Whether they’re young (or) old, come from a farm background or not, I think it’s a chance for us to learn and hear from each other.”

He tells Brownfield FFA members are busy throughout the fair.

“We have FFA members showing livestock, working at the CHS Miracle of Birth Center explaining production agriculture and we have FFA members working here in the Chapter House talking about agricultural opportunities and careers, as well as what FFA can do for students.”

He says the Chapter House highlights the diverse opportunities that exist in agriculture.

“We’ve done a lot of work to put together different displays to help show different careers in agriculture.  We really want people to understand how diverse agriculture is.  And it’s more than just farming, although that’s a key part of it.  There’s also a lot more to agriculture than we all know.”

Aarsvold will be a sophomore at the University of Minnesota this fall, studying mathematics and agriculture.
