United Suppliers, Land O’Lakes’ crop inputs business to merge

The merger of Ames, Iowa-based United Suppliers and Land O’Lakes’ crop inputs business has been approved by the owners and members of both companies.

According to a joint news release, the first step of the merger will be to combine the two companies’ seed and crop protection businesses under WinField US, LLC.  The second step will be to merge the crop nutrient business.

Company officials say customers will benefit from expanded product offerings, enhanced precision agriculture services and more.

In 2014, WinField had 4.9 billion dollars in seed and crop protection product sales and United Suppliers had 2.6 billion dollars in crop protection, seed and crop nutrient sales.  The deal is expected to close this October.
