Animal rights protestors interrupt Christie’s speech

christie speech-animal rights protestors 8-15New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was confronted by animal rights protestors during a speech Saturday at the Iowa State Fair.

The animal rights activists jumped on the stage with Christie. They held a sign with a picture of a sow in a gestation crate and shouted “animals want to live”.

After the protestors were removed by state patrol officers, Christie, who has twice vetoed a bill that would have prohibited the use of gestation stalls in New Jersey, told fairgoers he would do it again.

“I believe that farmers should be able to make decisions about how best to raise their livestock, not government bureaucrats,” Christie said. “I vetoed that bill twice in New Jersey, and if it comes to my desk again, I’ll veto it again.”

The Iowa State Patrol says the protestors were ejected from the State Fair but not arrested.
