Pioneer’s Iowa sales reps cover plots with cover crops

Dupont Pioneer soybean plot_webPioneer sales representatives across Iowa will be planting cover crops in their grower demonstration plots this summer.

Brent Wilson, technical services manager for DuPont Pioneer, says it’s an effort to further educate Iowa farmers about the benefits of cover crops as a conservation tool.

“We have armed all of our 300-plus rep agencies in the state of Iowa with a little ‘cover crop kit’,” Wilson says. “Some cover crop seed, primarily rye and radish, that they can put in their normal demo areas and kind of start that conversation with their customer base as far as the use and management of cover crops.”

Wilson says each sales rep will work to place a plot and host an educational field day for local growers.   He says the goal is “continue conservation conversations” across Iowa.

“We hope to raise awareness and learn something here.”

Collaborating with Pioneer on the project are La Crosse Seeds and The Nature Conservancy in Iowa.
