Efforts of farmers in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed will be shared with those facing similar scrutiny in Lake Erie.

Lindsay Garrison with the Lenawee Conservation District says this year’s Center for Excellence Field Day reaches outside of the Western Lake Erie Basin.

“We are also having a farmer’s story from a farmer in the Chesapeake Bay area that is going to be speaking on how things are being handled in the Chesapeake Bay area in relation to water quality.”

The Bakerlad and Raymond & Stutzman Farms in Southeast Michigan have been hosting the Center to highlight on-farm conservation research technologies that improve water quality and farmer’s bottom line for almost 20 years.

The August 19 event will also focus on conservation tillage, soil health, on-farm drainage systems and nutrient management.
