Warm week for Missouri

Programs ICON

Farmers in Missouri had an average of more than 5 days available for fieldwork last week, with temperatures nearly 3 degrees warmer than normal and precipitation fractionally above average. 59% of topsoil and 67% of subsoil have adequate moisture levels.

91% of corn is silking, 51% has reached the dough making stage, and 16% has dented, all slower than usual because of cool, wet growing conditions earlier in the season. 52% of corn is in good to excellent condition.

46% of soybeans are blooming and 20% are at the pod setting stage, both also trailing the normal pace. 29% of soybeans are called good to excellent, with 48% rated fair.

The first cutting of alfalfa is at 95%, with the second cutting at 68% and the third cutting at 23%.

68% of Missouri’s pastures and rangelands are rated good to excellent.
