Equipment options for tighter budgets

Sharing

Larger farmers, agricultural co-ops, and ag retailers have the opportunity for additional revenue even with tighter margins.

Dan Alcazar, vice-president of marketing and sales for FarmLink says MachineryLink Sharing connects farm equipment owners with those who need access to it – but may not be in the position to purchase it.  “A lot of the equipment that these agricultural entities have sits idle for much of the year,” he says.  “For those people that need it – the online portal gives them easy access and a much larger market from which to select equipment.  For the people providing it – it allows them to earn revenue on assets that are sitting idle.”

Alcazar tells Brownfield with today’s agricultural economy – a program like MachineryLink Sharing makes sense.  “Everyone is so challenged on their balance sheets and income statements with low commodity prices and all of the other issues that come with that,” he says.

The website provides rental access to sprayers, floaters, tender trucks, and tractors for both long and short-term rentals.

Salazar says currently there are 16 ag retailers signed up – with several more show interest.  Currently the service is available only to ag retailers and dealers – and will be available this fall for individuals.
