There is still time for farmers to manage insects and diseases in soybeans.

Megan Gust, Account Manager for DuPont Pioneer in Southeast Michigan, says white mold, soybean cyst nematodes and Septoria brown spot are just some of the pressures that could be impacting crops. She says farmers need to do more than a drive-by to scout fields.

“It’s really important that you’re getting out there and walking your fields to take a look, see what kind of pressure you have and possibly consider doing a fungicide application to help with any of those disease pressures, especially with all of the rain we’ve gotten.”

Gust tells Brownfield the best time for fungicide applications in soybeans is in the R-3 stage. She does expect farmers to have some yield reductions where disease pressures are rampant.
