‘Farmland’ movie for high school classrooms
The U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance (USFRA) has plans to get its movie ‘Farmland’ into high school classrooms. USFRA’s CEO Randy Krotz tells Brownfield Ag News they have a shorter version of the film, 44 minutes, to be used in high school curriculum. He says the movie can fit into a number of school subjects, “Social studies is a great place for it. STEM is another great place, you know, science and everything that goes with that. So, we hope it’s very broad and we hope that because we’re going to deal with everything from marketing – which the young farmers talk about a lot in this film – to weather, or, antibiotic use or animal care, we think it fits a lot of curriculums at the high school level.”
Krotz says there are a lot of great programs to educate young consumers about agriculture at the elementary level. But, he says it’s important to reach high schoolers, too.
