Michigan’s Dairy Expo this week

MI dairy expo

Michigan’s largest dairy youth event takes place this week in East Lansing. The Michigan Dairy Expo includes the Michigan 4-H Youth Dairy Days and Michigan Dairy Breed Shows which run through Friday at the Michigan State University Pavilion.

MSU Extension Educator Melissa Elischer says 4-H members will compete in dairy management, showmanship and breed shows, quiz bowl and the dairy judging contests.

“We have individuals from all over the state, all different backgrounds from the industry coming and helping us, there again lending their expertise to not only teach the youth in that moment, but also build that connection and say there are so many jobs available in the dairy industry.”

She tells Brownfield, the event would not be possible without the help of Michigan’s dairy industry. She says the event shows youth there are no limits on how they can be active members of the industry and continue to support the next generation.
