There are still areas of concern around the country and there’s a long way to go until harvest, but better weather in some growing areas has helped corn and soybean development rates get closer to normal and, nationally, crop condition ratings were unchanged.

As of Sunday, 55% of U.S. corn is silking, compared to 53% this time last year and the five year average of 56%. 69% of corn is in good to excellent condition, unchanged on the week, but with 2% moving from good to excellent.

56% of soybeans are blooming and 17% are at the pod setting stage. Both of those are a little slower than a year ago, but match the respective averages. 62% of soybeans are rated good to excellent, steady with last week.

75% of the U.S. winter wheat crop is harvested, 1% ahead of normal. 96% of spring wheat has headed, quite a bit faster than average, and 70% of the crop is in good to excellent shape, down 1% from a week ago.

63% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are rated good to excellent, 2% less than last week.
