Livestock are headed to Michigan State University this week for the Michigan Livestock Expo.  The state’s largest youth livestock exhibition runs through Sunday at the MSU Livestock Pavilion.

Coordinator Ernie Birchmeier says while numbers are up, market hog participation is much higher than expected.

“Numbers continue to grow and that’s a true testament to the great youth livestock programs that we have across the state of Michigan, but more importantly than that, the great families and the great people that give their youngsters an opportunity to participate in these educational activities.”

Species at the expo include include sheep, goats, swine and beef cattle.  Champion animals will be auctioned July 21 during the Livestock Expo Sale-abration event.
