Iowa corn, soybean crops in good shape

Much of Iowa experienced a warm, sunny week last week, allowing for an average of 4.8 days suitable for fieldwork across the state.

That’s only the second week this growing season all Iowa districts had more than 4 days suitable.

As of Sunday, 20% of soybeans are blooming, slightly behind the five year average, and 78% of the crop is rated good to excellent.

82% of the corn crop is in good to excellent condition.

The first cutting of alfalfa is at 90% and the second cutting is at 24%. 70% of hay is called good to excellent.

Pasture conditions around Iowa are 80% good to excellent and livestock conditions are reported as good.
