Obama opens Cuban embassies

Top Story IconPresident Obama has approved the opening of Cuban embassies in Washington, DC and Havana – and the move is seen as another positive development for ag trade with Cuba.

Mike Albertson, with the Illinois Soybean Growers says “Better trade relations lead to better diplomatic relations, which in turn lead to even better trade relations.” Albertson visited Cuba in March.  He says ISG has been working to increase trade with Cuba – and that soy is Cuba’s second largest import from the United States, behind chicken, which is also a top soy consumer.
